Hospitalization

Your path to recovery: What you need to know about your stay with us

Dear patients, dear loved ones,

we understand that coming to the hospital and staying here is a sensitive event for everyone. Whether you have come to us for a planned procedure or due to sudden health issues, our common goal is not only professional assistance but also to ensure that you feel safe and in good hands with us.

We understand that hospitalization brings many questions and perhaps a bit of uncertainty. That is why we have prepared this overview of information for you. You will find everything necessary here – from what to pack in your bag to how a day on the ward proceeds.

Our mission is to accompany you through the treatment process with respect and empathy. We are here for you so that you can focus on the most important thing – your speedy recovery.

1. What to bring with you for hospitalization

To ensure your admission goes smoothly, please prepare the following documents and items:

Documentation and IDs

  • Health insurance card and ID card.
  • Medical record summary (or copies of examinations required for hospitalization).
  • Results of specialist examinations related to your illness (CT, MRI, ultrasound, GFS, colonoscopy, histology, CD media, etc.).
  • Results of internal and anesthesiological examinations.
  • Information on ePN: If you need an electronic sick leave certificate issued, please inform the doctor immediately upon admission to the ward.

Medications and Medical Aids

  • Regularly taken medications: Bring them in their original packaging (not in a pill dispenser). If you take several, prepare a written list with dosages.
  • Compression: Compression stockings or elastic bandages (according to the doctor’s instructions when scheduling surgery).

Personal and Hygiene Items

  • Hygiene: Towel, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, shampoo, shaving supplies.
  • Clothing: Loungewear/pajamas, bathrobe, slippers with non-slip soles.

2. Arrival and Confirmation of Admission

Please arrive at the relevant clinic at the scheduled time. Here, you will be examined by our doctor, who will definitively confirm your hospitalization and answer any questions you may have before your actual admission to the clinic or ward.

3. First Steps on the Ward

Immediately upon arrival at the clinic, our staff will take care of you. The nurses will familiarize you with the operation of the ward, show you important areas, and explain your daily routine. We will also provide you with detailed information about your rights and the rules of your stay with us, so that you feel safe and informed throughout your treatment.

4. Transport and Important Rules

  • Transport: We recommend arranging transport to the hospital and from the hospital back home. If this is not possible for objective reasons, we will arrange transport for you via a medical transport service (ambulance).
  • Prohibitions: A strict ban on smoking and the consumption of alcoholic beverages applies throughout the hospital premises during your entire stay.

Important notice: Valuables, expensive jewelry, and large amounts of cash are not suitable for the clinic/ward. If you plan to pay for a premium room, you can use a payment card or cash at the cashier’s office in the Nitra University Hospital management building.
