The Gynecological and Obstetric Clinic of Fakultná nemocnica Nitra, under the leadership of Head of Department MUDr. Erik Lajtman, PhD., MPH, and Chief Physician MUDr. Marián Matejka, is once again raising the standard of healthcare provided. As part of the continuous introduction of modern diagnostic and surgical procedures, our medical team has begun using an innovative method for selected malignant uterine tumors – laparoscopic surgery with targeted marking of sentinel (guardian) lymph nodes using a fluorescent substance.
This advanced technology represents a major step forward in the precision and gentleness of surgical procedures.
Main benefits of the new method:
-
Real-time visualization: A special fluorescent substance allows surgeons to clearly and precisely visualize lymphatic pathways and nodes directly during the procedure.
-
Less radical surgery: Thanks to precise localization of sentinel nodes, it is in many cases not necessary to remove a large number of lymph nodes, which significantly reduces the risk of postoperative complications (such as leg swelling – lymphedema).
-
High oncological safety: Despite the smaller scope of the surgical intervention, the maximum level of safety and effectiveness of oncological treatment is maintained.
“This is another step in our continuous effort to provide modern, gentle, and high-quality healthcare for our patients,” adds the management of the Gynecological and Obstetric Clinic of FN Nitra.
FN Nitra thus confirms its commitment to following the latest medical trends and offering patients from across the region treatment that minimizes strain on the body and speeds up the return to everyday life.
