The outpatient clinic offers diagnosis, therapy, and prevention of neurogenic speech disorders and impaired communication abilities in adults. Referrals for examination can be issued by general practitioners for adults, as well as by physicians from other specialties. The clinical speech therapist also intensively addresses the diagnosis and treatment of aphasia (disorder of speech comprehension, grammatical structure of words and sentences) and dysarthria (disorder of pronunciation) in hospitalized patients at the neurological clinic. This primarily includes patients with acute cerebral infarction, acute cerebral hemorrhage, dementia, extrapyramidal disorders, and neuromuscular diseases.
